Intelligent Connectivity > Surveillance Network Communication Solution > Indoor Surveillance
An office is often where confidential documents are stored. The primary goal of office surveillance is to grant accesses only to authorized staff. CCTV, door access control, auto alarm and reporting systems, RFID, and AI facial recognition are common solutions applied to office surveillance.
In this solution, Advantech demonstrates how wireless network communication can help build up a remote control and management surveillance solution with very little extra wiring effort. If your office cannot afford long downtimes or if you have only a little budget for network infrastructure upgrades, this wireless surveillance network solution is just right for you.

Surveillance systems are an example of operations security solutions employed at government buildings and other facilities in order to keep assets, employees, and data safe. Security cameras provide both permanent security for fixed assets and temporary security for public areas, such as for monitoring crowds during events including speeches and parades. Nowadays, increasingly more people are looking for a high-mobility solution that allows for remote real-time monitoring on mobile phones.
The purpose of this project was to create a user-friendly real-time video surveillance system that supports remote monitoring on any authorized portable device (e.g., touch panel screens and mobile phones).
A factory is much bigger than an office, resulting in a much longer data transmission distance for surveillance and central management systems. How to efficiently connect all distributed CCTVs across the whole area without much downtime is critical for factory managers.
In this solution, Advantech offers two product lines for factory surveillance: PoE Ethernet switch and Ether-to-fiber media converter, simplifying wiring deployment on one hand and extending network coverage on the other. With the combination of PoE and fiber connectivity, managers can easily access any IP cameras at any corner without limitations.

The manufacturer chose Advantech industrial media converter with LFPT. The compact converter includes two 10/100/1000 Mbps Power Over Ethernet (PoE) copper ports and an SFP (Small Form Pluggable) fiber port. Along with an Ethernet connection, each of the Ethernet ports provides up to 25 W to connected devices. That eliminated the need to run dedicated power lines out to the camera locations.
The SFP fiber ports support 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps, which future-proofs the installation. The factory only
requires 100 Mbps connectivity to meet its current needs. But if — at a later date — they wish to upgrade the system to gigabit, the PoE+ Giga-MiniMc with LFPT easily transitions from Multi-mode to Single-mode fiber. The hot-swappable SFP transceiver is the only component that needs to be changed.
Statistics shows 20% of car accidents were in parking lots or garages, which is about 50,000 car accidents per year. In such a narrow space with high car density, a 24/7 surveillance system is needed to protect both drivers, passengers as well as vehicles.
In this solution, Advantech offers VDLS & coaxial extenders for parking lot managers, aiming to provide a painless, seamless network infrastructure upgrade. With the VDSL extenders, managers can easily leverage existing VDSL or coaxial cables buried under ground. No extra digging is required, meaning no downtime.

Extending Ethernet to the gate house has been a timeconsuming and costly decision. By making better
use of existing wires and cables, Advantech helps
parking managers save time and money by offering the most cost-effective solution.
By installing a pair of Ethernet extenders—one at local side near a networked Ethernet switch, and one in the remote gate house—users can connect the Ethernet signal from both sides efficiently. The extenders enable managers to monitor the real-time situation at the gate house through devices connected to Ethernet.
With Advantech’s help, parking managers can remotely supervise their
gate houses without digging up concrete and asphalt.
