To handle the extreme conditions, weather stations were equipped with Advantech’s LTE SmartStart routers. The LTE technology used within the SmartStart routers, coupled with their ability to operate at low temperatures, delivered a robust and reliable customer solution. Advantech routers usually connect to two or three high-specification cameras, as well as computers, various measurement tools, sensors, and electronics.

The captured data can be sent simultaneously - either over a mobile network via robust mobile broadband routers to the central control room, or directly to an Air Ambulance helicopter. This solution delivers accurate, real-time weather information to pilots in all situations. It allows them to predict potential problems, make better-informed decisions, and safely provide vital, life-saving services.

The reliability and durability of LTE SmartStart routers ensure effective operation in a challenging climate. Their wide operating temperature range successfully endures cold weather and heavy rain. With a solid design, Advantech’s LTE SmartStart routers minimize communication issues for more reliable rescue operations.

To enhance data transmission capabilities while reducing related costs, CNPC opted for a wide area network (WAN) solution at the oilfield. This means that data can be transferred via cellular network from the oilfield to the CNPC platform. To ensure sufficient data bandwidth for live video, 3G/4G connectivity was required.

For industrial cellular routers, Advantech recommended adopting the BB-SL306 4G router, which features a 4G communication module designed by Huawei technologies and is widely praised for its high stability in industrial applications. This unit provides ample CPU power (1 GHz), RAM (512 MB), and flash memory (256 MB).

Furthermore, it supports 4G Full Netcom in China and has an SDK for Python on Linux. It also provides RS-232 and digital I/O connectivity options. The BB-SL306 also has a wide operating temperature (-40 to 75°C), and as such can also handle extreme weather conditions

Extending Ethernet to the gate house has been a timeconsuming and costly decision. By making better

use of existing wires and cables, Advantech helps

parking managers save time and money by offering the most cost-effective solution.

By installing a pair of Ethernet extenders—one at local side near a networked Ethernet switch, and one in the remote gate house—users can connect the Ethernet signal from both sides efficiently. The extenders enable managers to monitor the real-time situation at the gate house through devices connected to Ethernet.

With Advantech’s help, parking managers can remotely supervise their gate houses without digging up concrete and asphalt.

This project was necessitated by market demands for real-time AI-driven NVR systems. To improve worksite safety, these systems needed to incorporate both existing security cameras and newly installed high-resolution cameras into a single smart security system with AI software.

Likewise the AI NVR system needed to surveil numerous worksites simultaneously. It needed to minimize false alerts and send real-time warning alerts as dangerous events arise. Videos from the site should be sent to a control room for record keeping and detailed analysis. These records and reports can identify potentially dangerous on-site environments and improve worksite/facility safety.
